In Loving Memory of Blossom
February 8, 2012 – November 7, 2025
It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my beloved retired service dog, Blossom at the age of 13 years and 9 months. Blossom was by my side until her final breath, surrounded by love, gentle words, and comforting touch.
Blossom was more than a Hearing dog —she was my partner, my protector, and my best friend. She alerted me to sounds and brought joy to every journey we took together.
Blossom was a wonderful travel companion. She flew with me to Vancouver, BC, and slept peacefully through the entire flight. Together, we also visited Rothesay, Quispamsis, Truro, Windsor, New Glasgow, and many other places. Blossom often accompanied me to Halifax and Dartmouth for Labour Board, NSGEU, and NSGREA meetings and conventions — she truly went everywhere with me.
Whether traveling, shopping, or swimming at my uncle’s cottage, Blossom embraced life with grace and devotion. She will be deeply missed by my family and everyone who knew her.
To honour Blossom’s legacy and the life-changing work of Dog Guides, I invite you to donate in her memory to the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, which is currently facing a critical funding shortfall for their new national training centre in Oakville, Ontario. This facility will help train more dogs like Blossom to support Canadians living with disabilities.
