Guide Dogs Support

The Difference Campaign

Our Dogs are Ready to Work. But our Future is in Jeopardy.

We’ve had to pause construction on our new Dog Guide training school because of a $20 million shortfall. Without urgent action, construction could be halted permanently, and our capacity to operate our training program could be lost.

We are calling on the public to raise $5 Million toward the shortfall, and we need help urgently to get building again, secure the future of our programs, and meet the growing demand from Canadians waiting for a life-changing Dog Guide. Every contribution, large or small, will bring us closer to opening the doors of this world-class facility, safeguarding our programs, and giving Canadians living with disabilities greater independence, safety, and support.

Three meaningful things people don’t usually know about Lions Foundation of Canada and its Dog Guides

Monday 23rd Feb

I’m reaching out to invite you to support the incredible work of Lions Foundation of Canada, which provides life-changing Dog Guides to Canadians with disabilities at no cost to them. They do not receive funding from the government, but only from ordinary people like you and me. Your generous donation will help empower individuals with greater independence, confidence, and safety in their daily lives. Together, we can make a meaningful difference—thank you for considering a gift to this impactful cause.

Here are three meaningful things people don’t usually know about Lions Foundation of Canada and its Dog Guides:

  1. They train dogs for more than just guide work: LFCDG trains dogs in seven distinct programs (including autism assistance, seizure response, diabetic alert, and facility support), not just for visual impairment. This makes it one of the most versatile assistance-dog programs in Canada.
  2. Each Dog Guide costs about $35,000 but is provided for free: It costs tens of thousands of dollars to breed, raise and train a Dog Guide, yet all eligible Canadians receive their dog at no cost, and the organization does not receive government funding—they rely entirely on donations and volunteers.
  3. They’re expanding with a national training school: LFCDG is in the midst of a major fundraising campaign to build a new state-of-the-art national training facility that will allow them to train even more Dog Guides and serve more people across the country. They almost reached their goals. Just a little bit more! Please support if you are able to! Thank you so much!!!
