The Future of Dog Guides is in Jeopardy!!!
Thursday 28th Aug
Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides is where Paul has received an Autism Assistance Dog Guide. We recently just applied for Naomi to receive an Autism Assistance Dog Guide as well and are waiting to hear if we made the waitlist. We are so incredibly grateful for the life changing dog we have! Paul has done a complete 180 since Marlene came into our lives. He has gained confidence and is able to do things he never was before!! It's terrifying to think what will happen if LFCDG has to close it's door permanently.
Over the past year or so, LFCDG has been building a new state of the art training facility in Oakville, Ontario. This new building will be accessible to all Canadians with disabilities. The building will make it easier for LFCDG to house and train even more Service Dogs, which are provided free of cost to Canadians.
Unfortunately, they have had to pause construction on their new training school because of an unexpected $20 million shortfall. Without urgent action, construction could be permanently stopped, and their ability to operate the training program could be lost. In other words, they could have to close their doors permanently.
They have called to the public for assistance to urgently raise $5 million towards the shortfall in order to get construction started again, to secure the future of their 7 Dog Guide programs, and meet the growing need from Canadians waiting for a life-changing Dog Guide.
Every contribution, large or small, will bring them closer to opening the doors of this world-class facility, safeguarding their programs, and giving Canadians living with disabilities greater independence, safety and support.
Thank you so much for your support!!
